Google continues to strengthen its structure to guarantee the safety of its users, taking another step forward on all its platforms. On this occasion, it is the turn of your Chrome browser, of which there is still much to improve in the protection of data and malwares that still live on the internet. In a new feature, it will allow you to know if a form in google chrome is not safe.
This novelty will appear in version 86 of the Chrome app, which consists of notifying if a web page is safe or not in order to deposit our data without any danger. This will happen on pages with the HTTPS protocol, which are supposed to have a higher degree of security, although in reality this may not be the case and the data will remain visible to hackers and other computing entities.
A totally new feature in Google Chrome
It does not mean that before there was no certain security when browsing the internet in Chrome. Until now, our data being safe was indicated by the padlock icon, located at the top of the browser and right in the search bar. If the lock is closed, the connection to the website is assumed to be completely secure. If the lock was open, it indicated that we were on a page with HTTP protocol.
However, this has not completely dispelled doubts to users, since it does not effectively expose information about the risks involved in filling in personal data in forms, since the HTTPS protocol offers greater guarantees in the connection to a web, but not in the sending of data. That is why the company of Mountain View has decided to develop a new system that informs users of the risks and thus avoid greater evils.
What is Chrome going to do with the form?
They will consist of two security measures when filling out forms on a website. First of all, Chrome will disable autocomplete of data in those places where the security is not certain. Thus, the form will not automatically obtain personal data that could be stolen, although the Chrome password manager will remain available, in the event that a form requires a registration or a login.
This allows writing in forms even when they are not secure, since this way a unique password is used, without reusing it. On the other hand, when entering a suspicious form, Chrome will alert users with a full screen popup. This window informs you of the risks involved in staying on the website and recommending your immediate exit, although it allows you to choose if we want to carry these risks.
This belongs to a complete process to remove all sites with HTTP protocol, much more insecure for all web developers to migrate to HTTPS. Of course, this whole process is being carried out gradually, with experimental phases such as the Chrome Flags from the browser.
