The Google Assistant is one of the most useful features that Android can offer us. The ability to consult information or take actions on your phone with your voice is very easy and comfortable. And now Google offers us interesting improvements, especially in privacy. We tell you the details.

Google was heavily criticized when it became public that it used people to transcribe some fragments of the voice of Google Assistant users. That means that some snippets of conversation with the assistant weren't 100% private.

Things quickly calmed down when only 0,2% of the recordings were affected. But that already upset some users a bit.

This practice was done in order to improve recognition and to be able to transcribe more accurately. It did not capture information from the information. At least that's what Google claimed.

But that has already set off the alarms of some users, so Google has decided to cure itself in health. After a time of pause in this practice, now they have improved the privacy of the assistant.

And what news does it bring? Well now, they will not include some audio fragments in the human review process to improve their operation unless you give them the go-ahead by activating the options of Voice and audio activation. In case they are not activated, Google will not be able to pass the audios through the human review process.

Keyword detection improvements

When we talk about the Google Voice Assistant, we understand keywords like the «OK Google» or the most recent «Hey Google» that we can say to our phone to wake up the assistant.

Well now we have improvements in the detection of keywords. That will allow us, not only to improve its precision and not to activate when it does not play due to a similar phrase or a conversation.

In addition, Google says that in addition to trying to add new options in terms of sensitivity and precision, it also wants to add new messages such as «Hello Google", to have more and more options and make it more natural for you to talk to the assistant.

After all the initial Google Assistant privacy fuss, now things improve exponentially with these new options that allow you, the user, to choose if you want these practices to be carried out or not. Will you activate the option in exchange for better recognition?
