At Google I / O 2019, the company announced that Maps, dark mode apart, it would have an incognito mode. This mode that would not save the sites that you have visited and that you have been guided through the instructions of the app. And it seems that the first users are already starting to receive this mode, we will tell you what we know.
After four months, we finally started to know something about this novelty and we have our first impressions.
Google Maps: Incognito Mode
Like the incognito mode of Chrome or YouTube, now we will have it in Google Maps.
Locations you go to or skip while using this mode will not be saved in your search history.
This novelty has been acquired by a small group of users who are already testing it. So we hope that in no time, we will have it on our mobile phones and Android Auto.
Of course, to indicate that you are in that mode, a black bar will appear at the top of the screen that will indicate that the incognito mode is active. Also where our profile image appears, it will be replaced by the incognito mode logo.
To activate it we will have to go to the upper right part of the screen, where we have our user accounts. Click there, and under our Google accounts we will see the option to activate incognito mode.
Of course, to access that you have to be a participant in the Preview test group, and update Preview Maps in its version 10.26. But most users will have to wait to receive this update.
We assume that at least we will have to wait a few weeks to see it on our phones. But what is clear is that it may arrive shortly.
The truth is that it is a useful option for certain users. Incognito mode is always nice to have to hide certain things. As for example when you are looking to give a surprise or give gifts, so that the person who has to receive it, does not realize it.
It is also useful for those who are especially fans of security, since browsing always in incognito mode, either with Maps, with your browser or whatever, prevents your search trends from being known if a friend or acquaintance, use your phone.
And you do you think? Do you think it is useful to have an incognito mode in Maps?
