Google Maps tests a new functionality that alerts you when your taxi deviates from the route

Google is putting special emphasis on Maps, one of its most popular applications, having more and more features and more options. Recently the app has already warned you of the radars that you can find on the road, it tells you where you can charge your electric car, it allows the erasure of the location history and now it intends to warn you when your taxi deviates from the route.

At the moment it is nothing more than a test functionality, but the Mountain View company wants you not to get ripped off a euro when you go by taxi, and It alerts you if it deviates more than 500 meters from the route that Google has established to reach your destination.

In this way, if you do not know the city where you are, you will have more security than the route the taxi driver is following is the fastest.

The fastest route by taxi

Of course, if you have Maps activated when you go by taxi, it detects it as if we were driving a car (obviously, since that is what we are doing), but a security option will appear within which, we will find the option of «outside alarms route".

Off-route alarms, as we have said, will warn you if the taxi driver deviates more than 500 meters from the fastest route, to avoid scams or similar situations.

Google Maps, an increasingly complete app

The truth is that the amount of new options that Google is adding to its maps application makes us very happy, since it is becoming a more complete app, and we have more options without having to leave the application or have several apps installed in Our telephone.

Apart from those already mentioned, other functionalities such as the popular dishes of a restaurant (if you consult the restaurant information from Maps), how fully public transport is going and a long etcetera, and all this in a matter of months. It seems that Google wants to offer the most complete app possible so that navigation is as easy, pleasant and intuitive.

Some of these features are still in testing in some countries or are in the final stages of development. But many of them are already being received by users, and therefore, we will soon see them spread throughout the world and in stable versions of the application.

We look forward to this reaching our phones, for all those users who are used to using a taxi. You're one of them?
