Many users asked for a dark mode for instagram. Other social networks such as Twitter or Reddit, and applications and browsers such as Chrome or Microsoft Edge have dark mode for a long time. And it seems that we will have it on Instagram shortly. Even some Android 10 users have been able to test it. We tell you everything we know.
Great news for users of AMOLED screens, since the color of this dark mode that Facebook already has, it is completely black, making the pixels of the AMOLED screens turn off, and we not only have a dark mode, but we will also save battery.
Instagram and the long-awaited dark mode
Due to the rise of apps with dark mode and the effort that Google has put into having all its apps with this mode and that even Apple has put it in the latest version of the system, it seems that the rest of the developers «have put the batteries ».
And while we've never had any news of the idea that Instagram planned to implement a dark mode, it now appears that in the latest version of alpha has arrived. Some users with Android 10 have activated the global dark mode of the system, this dark mode has been automatically activated.
It is still in tests (that's why it is only in the alpha), therefore it still needs a little to finish being complete. Some parts are still blank, like the classic Instagram.
How to activate Instagram dark mode
To activate it you will have to have or Android 10, that many users have not received it yet, or failing that, a Samsung phone with One UI. That's right, as Samsung has already included a global switch for dark mode in One UI, Instagram's will be activated automatically when activated, even if you have Android 9 Pie.
Apart from Android 10 or One UI you must also download the alpha version of Instagram, specifically the version of Instagram Alpha 114.0.0.0.24, you can download it from APK Mirror.
Those of us who do not meet these requirements will have to wait for the dark mode to be activated over time by means of a switch in the application itself. Or, failing that, wait to receive Android 10, which obviously not all mobiles will receive. It is a matter of waiting and seeing how the news progresses. But we hope that in a short time, we will have it in the stable version and available for all mobile phones.
What do you think of this dark mode? Were you looking forward to it? Or don't you usually put dark modes?
