When many users expect big changes from an application, and those changes arrive, two things can happen: it is celebrated in style or there is a general disappointment with high expectations. In this news, we dare to say that the first situation will occur, since two new shortcuts reach Google Keep.
News that were long awaited, since although Google Keep is constantly updated and almost monthly, in most of those updates only errors were corrected. After a lethargy since 2018 without major changes to the app, we can talk about two very useful visual novelties. Let's remember that the last great change was the dark mode in Google Keep 2 years ago.
'Home' and 'Work' shortcuts in reminders
The main and only change for which we are writing these lines is the inclusion of two new shortcuts when programming reminders. These accesses will allow us to classify them, depending on which of the two we have chosen, something that will help us in organizing the tasks. Google Keep renews the window of your reminders to offer a new popup list full of suggestions, which will allow us to schedule a reminder in fewer steps.
In previous versions you had to manually select the day, time and / or location in the reminders, but now it suggests different times of the day (morning, afternoon and night) in addition to the locations of our property y work.
Now, to reach the same goal, the procedure is much more simplified than before, since it allows us to set a reminder when arriving home or to work with a single touch. This is thanks to the shortcuts that have been added to the bell icon, where the time and location are set. It also allows what you already allowed to do before, enter an address manually from the reminder itself. However, to have these shortcuts enabled, you have to set the directions in Google Maps before, and we will tell you how to do it.
Add home and work addresses for Google Keep
If you specify your home and work addresses, you won't have to enter them over and over again in the note app every time you put a personalized reminder. In this way, the new Google Keep shortcuts will make more sense and everything will be done in an automated way. To do this, we have to go to Google Maps and do the following:
- On your Android phone, open the Google Maps app.
- Touch the Save icon. Under "Your lists," tap Labeled.
- Choose Home o Job.
- Enter the address of each place in the appropriate section.
