YouTube Premium is the subscription of monthly payment to be able to use unpublished functions of YouTube, such as being able to continue playing the video despite turning off the screen, Picture-in-Picture and, of course, download videos, which we can now download at 1080p.
Until now we could download YouTube videos from YouTube premium in HD, that is, at 720p (1280 × 720), which is a resolution that, although not bad, falls a bit short at this point in the game in which 4K has a resolution four times higher than Full HD (higher resolution than HD) is becoming a standard on more and more YouTube channels.
YouTube Premium in Full HD
1080p is the highest standard for most YouTube channels, for many professionals and users alike. So we were surprised to see that YouTube Premium did not have the option to download at 1080p from its inception. Leaving only the option to download in 720p, even if the video was uploaded to the platform in 1080p or 4K. But don't worry, the option to download it in Full HD has already arrived.
A few months ago, the ability to download videos in 1080p was implemented, but only for devices with iOS. Which surprised users, since, as is known, YouTube belongs to Google, an Android company.
However now the option to download videos in Full HD is already spreading to all phones and all users who are paying their subscription to YouTube Premium.
Anyway, not all phones still have the option, so we will have to wait for all users to receive it, it is just a matter of waiting to receive the update.
It was in February that thanks to the source code of the application it was seen that Google was already trying to increase the quality of the downloads to Full HD 1080p. But we didn't hear from it for quite a while until, as we said, some iOS users started getting this option. And now we can start enjoying it on Android shortly.
At the moment Full HD is a good option, since it is the standard for many videos and even phone or computer screens.
And what do you think? Do you think it will take a long time to see 4K among the resolution options to download? Leave your opinion in comments!
