The search engine company surprised last year with the announcement that it intended to bring Google Play Games also to Windows during 2022. Thus, Microsoft Windows users could play all Android games on their PC. Now we know that Google Play Games for Windows is a reality, and it is already here in the form of Beta, at least in some regions, which are the first lucky ones (Taiwan, South Korea and Hong Kong) to be able to test this new system. The rest of the countries will have to wait a little longer.

Like the integration of Android apps into ChromeOS on Chromebooks, Google also wants to bring the rich ecosystem of apps and video games of the most used operating system to other platforms. In addition, this initial Beta not only confirms last year's announcement, but also provides more details about what you can find on Google Play Games for Windows when it finally arrives in Spain and the rest of the countries.

With this first Beta release, not all of the existing video game titles on Google Play, but some of them do. For example, some of the most prominent are:

On the other hand, it has been known that the system will be very similar to having Google Play in Windows, with the difference that you will not have movies, books, or apps, but you will only be able to download and install video games. Of course, it has also been adapted to work on large screens and to be mouse and keyboard controlled.

Mac support is still up in the air, and we also don't know if it will come to Linux at some point as well. For now, the Google Play Games for Linux or Google Play Games for Mac are unknown.

It is important to note that Google Play Games for Windows also will allow to synchronize the game between mobile and PC, in this way, you will always have the same account and the game you advance on one device will also be available on the other.

Minimum requirements of Google Play Games for Windows

As for the the minimum requirements that are needed for Google Play Games for Windows to work properly on your PC, as officially revealed, are:

  • Operating System Microsoft Windows 10 (v2004 Build) or higher.
  • You need to have an account administrator in Windows.
  • hard drive type SSD.
  • GPU integrated or dedicated. No model is specified, since in principle it would work with any of the current ones.
  • 8 logical core CPU (ie you can have 4 physical and SMT).
  • 8 GB of RAM.
  • 20 GB of space available in the storage unit.
