6 things you should know if you want to save battery on your Android

Given that the battery is one of the Achilles heels of smartphones, there are many alleged tricks that exist to improve battery life and reduce power consumption, and that ultimately end up being nothing more than myths. So, here are 6 things you should know if you really want to save battery on your Android, or at least, if you don't want to spend too much.

1.- Disable WiFi and data when traveling

When you travel, if you go by car, or by train, your mobile will connect to all the WiFi networks and mobile networks that it can. This uses a lot of battery, because also when the coverage is bad, the battery consumption is higher, when trying to search for networks with more intensity. This is the reason why on trips we spend a lot of battery, when in fact in many moments we have almost no coverage. A good trick is to deactivate the WiFi, and put the mobile in Airplane mode. If at a certain moment you want to connect, deactivate Airplane mode and connect the data, but then put the phone back in Airplane mode, as this will save a lot of battery on trips.

2.- Deactivating Bluetooth is not useful

Many believe that Bluetooth consumes a lot of battery, and this is not true. First of all, if you don't use it, the battery it uses is very little. But what's more, even if you have connected a Bluetooth headset or something like that, you should not worry. Today's next-generation Bluetooth connections are low-power, so never think that turning off Bluetooth is critical to saving battery life.

3.- Closing all apps is not good

If you want to free up RAM, closing all apps can be good, but if you want to save battery maybe not. Why? Android leaves the apps in the background, and when we want to run them again, all the processes do not have to be run from scratch for the app to start working. We are saving energy. But what's more, there are functions of the apps that are running at all times. When we close them completely, the only thing we get is that these processes have to be run again. And as we have said, sometimes more battery is spent in having to restart a process than in the fact that the process is constantly running.

4.- Battery optimization apps don't usually work

Along with the above, it should be said that battery optimization apps are not usually useful. Yes, it is possible that there is one that is really useful, or that applies to an old mobile some energy saving functions that have come to Android later with the new versions of the operating system. But in almost all cases, these battery optimization apps not only do not get us to use a lower amount of battery, but because an app is constantly running, we still use more battery.

5.- Do not play or watch videos

If you want to save battery, you should not play games or watch videos. Keep in mind that what consumes the most energy on your mobile is the screen. The longer it is off the better. But as long as it is on, if it also has to be running moving images, it will be much worse, and if in addition to that it has to be managing different processes of a video game, the energy consumption will be very high. It will not be easy for the battery to reach a full day if you play a lot with your mobile.

6.- Lower the brightness

As we have already said, the battery is the component that uses the most battery. And something as simple as lowering the brightness of your mobile screen can be key to saving battery. In fact, if we need a lot of autonomy, the key will be to lower the brightness. Of course, it is not the best to watch videos, or to use the mobile, but if at any moment we really require a very important battery saving, lowering the brightness will be key.
