70% of smartphones sold in the second quarter are Android

How we humans like numbers. It seems that they are the only ones who can give us the reason or take it away from us, and it is that something like this is what happens with the war between Android and iOS. The discussions about which one is better will last forever and we can never convince the fans of one that the other is superior. However, the figures speak and do not lie, they always tell the truth. And the only certainty we have is that during the second quarter of this year, 68,1% of the smartphones sold were Android.

This news is especially important because during the same period last year Android it dominated with a 46,9% share of smartphones sold. Apple iOS, for its part, has lost percentage in the market, if before it had 18,8%, now it has fallen to 16,9%. Windows Phone also grows, which now has 3,5% while last year it was 2,3%. On the other hand, the affected operating systems have been BlackBerry and Symbian, which had 11,5% and 16,9% respectively, and have fallen to 4,8% and 4,4%, devastating figures for operating systems that they already see their end.

However, not everything is so negative for those on the block. Although they have lost share, they have actually grown in sales compared to the previous year, which makes us think, again, that there are not a large number of users that are moving from iOS to AndroidRather, the latter collects all the new users who go from a conventional telephone to a smartphone.

The growth of iOS is lower, in the second quarter of 2011 it sold 20,4 million, and in this year 26 million, good figures to think that it is a single manufacturer. However, it cannot be compared to Android. 104,8 million devices with Google's operating system were sold in the second quarter of 2012, compared to 50,8 million units that were sold last year in the same period.
