The battery is the Achilles heel of smartphones. There are too many possibilities that they offer for such a short duration and there is none on the market that offers the necessary autonomy to complete an intense day of work or leisure. With that in mind, there are some who do better than others. Although the HTC One X, which has been on the street for a month, promised respectable figures, the new Galaxy S3 seems to have passed it by.
Our colleagues at GSM Arena have made one of the best comparisons that can be read (in English) between the two devices called to send this year. We have already explained most of the details here, but it remained to be seen an element that because it is not visible we usually forget, when it is the most important of all: the battery. Because without it, our brand new mobile is a simple decorative object.
First of all, it is necessary to clarify that the two terminals are difficult to compare. Although both have similar screen sizes and a quad-core processor, the HTC One X carries a 1.800 milliamp-hour battery (mAh) while the Galaxy S3 goes with a 2.100 mAh. Let's see if those extra 300 mAh are noticeable.
In calls, the least demanding service in terms of consumption (if we are in an area with good coverage), the Galaxy S3 beats the HTC One X but without overwhelming. In tests conducted by GSM Arena with a continuous call, the One X's battery lasted nine hours and 57 minutes. Meanwhile, the Samsung mobile spent it in 10 hours and 20 minutes.
Neither showed excellent performance (to say the least) when you tried to surf the net. The One X shut down after four hours and 18 minutes of surfing the internet. For its part, the Galaxy S3 allowed to navigate 59 minutes more.
Another of the most demanding services is video playback. They did it with SD images, not high definition. The test showed that the Galaxy S3 sweeps the One X here- It took 10 hours and a minute to drain 90% of its battery. The One X did it in just six hours. It seems that the larger size and weight of the new battery makes up for it.
