There are already three possible cameras that the Samsung Galaxy S7 would have. The last one that has been talked about would be a 20 megapixel camera, which would stand out for being able to shoot in RAW. However, as there are already three options, it is not clear what the Samsung Galaxy S7 camera could actually be.
20 megapixel camera
So far, there had been talk of two other possible cameras that the new Samsung Galaxy S7 could have. One of them would be the same as the Sony Xperia Z5, so it could be a 23 megapixel camera. There has also been talk of a camera with a resolution of 12 megapixels, but with a 1/2-inch sensor, so it would be of high quality. However, now there is talk of another camera, which would have a resolution of 20 megapixels. With which of these three cameras would the new Samsung Galaxy S7 arrive? What does seem clear is that the camera will be improved with respect to that of the Samsung Galaxy S6, 16 megapixels, and that it has also been present in the Galaxy S6 Edge, the Galaxy S6 Edge + and the Galaxy Note 5.
Shoot in RAW
One of the most remarkable features of the new camera is that it would be capable of shooting in RAW, like high-end professional cameras. In fact, this feature is no longer only of professional cameras, but of almost all level cameras. Android 5.0 Lollipop came already including native support for the RAW format. Already high-end Samsung mobiles could capture photos in RAW. However, in the case of this Samsung Galaxy S7, the goal will be for this format to become much more widely used. RAW photos are of higher quality, and with them you can make modifications to the photo after it has been captured. Hence, it is the format used to get high-level photos.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 could be officially presented in January (January 19 has been discussed), as well as in February, so it will be then when the technical characteristics of the smartphone are officially confirmed, and what camera it will have.
