This will be the Samsung Gear A circular watch and its new interface

Samsung Gear A Cover

Samsung has officially released the new SDK to launch specific applications for its smart watches. And in said SDK there are not only references to the company's next smartwatch, but also some images about its design and interface, and even features about it.

Circular design

We already knew that the smartwatch would be circular, but the image that accompanies this paragraph confirms it in a much more remarkable way. We find a watch that seems to be made of metal, with a crown right in the middle of the watch, and in which the bezels are quite small. The screen would occupy almost the entire front. Hopefully these images will be true to life when the smartwatch arrives, as we have already seen many watches with very wide bezels, which is a problem when using them. What we know is that the screen will have a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels, with a size of 1,65 inches. Thus, it will be somewhat smaller than the Samsung Gear S, something that is notably appreciated, given the large size of the latter.

Rotating sphere

The great novelty will reside in the frame of the dial, or in the bezel, depending on how you want to call it. It will be rotatable, so by rotating it we can perform actions on the interface, such as scrolling through the different elements on the screen, zooming, etc. Something similar to what can be seen on the Apple Watch with the Digital Crown. And it seems that this sphere will be of great importance, as there will be many functions that we will have to interact with through this sphere.

GPS, and calls

Regarding the functions that this smartwatch, the Samsung Gear A, could definitely have, we also have new details. It is confirmed that there will be two versions of the smart watch, one that does have the possibility of making calls and connecting to the Internet with a mobile connection, and another that only has WiFi connectivity and no mobile connectivity. In addition, the two versions will have GPS and sensors already seen before in watches, such as motion sensors, the heart rate monitor, the pressure sensor and the magnetic sensor.

At the moment, yes, we still do not know when the new smartwatch will arrive. Given that the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 should land in September, and the Samsung Galaxy S6 has already been launched, we can expect the new watch to have an exclusive unveiling event sometime in the next few months, before September. End of May would be the logical thing to do, but June is also possible. July and August seem more unlikely, so the launch could be very close.
