Android 9 Pie for mobile Samsung changes the way of recording videos

We hope the latest version of Android for Samsung mobiles land before the end of the year, although it shouldn't be surprising if the brand delays the release by a few weeks in order to polish the software before its release. While that day arrives, we continue to anticipate some of the news and changes that the operating system will bring to the mobile phones of the Chinese brand.

Today we are beginning to be more aware of Android Q, future Google software that, among other novelties, will improve the split screen so that all applications work at the same time. But Android 9 Pie for Samsung mobiles It also comes loaded with more personalized news from the hand of Samsung experience. The last example we have in slight changes in the camera interface that makes recording video change with the next updates.

One more step when recording video

The biggest change we found is the adoption of a style similar to what iOS offers in its camera application, that is, a sliding format to switch between capturing photos and recording video. It's not too different from what Samsung Experience currently offers, based on Android 8.1 Oreo, but the camera app now adds an extra step every time you want to record a video. The classic red Android Oreo recording button has been replaced with the option to switch between the front and rear cameras, as seen in the following screenshot of Android 9 Pie for the Samsung Galaxy S9.

Samsung has decided to prioritize switching between front camera and rear camera to the detriment of the video recording options since it is possible that users, today, make use of this button more than video recording. Since the interface has been improved to make life easier for the user, it makes sense that the brand has chosen to follow this path even if it means taking another step when recording video.

This is the future of Samsung mobiles: infinite screens, cameras under the screen, fingerprint reader on the display ...

Given that Android 9 Pie for Samsung mobiles is not fully polished yet and is in closed beta phase, it is quite likely that Samsung keep trying new ways to make the camera interface to everyone's liking.
