How to enable Dolby Atmos for games on the Samsung Galaxy Note 9

Although it has not launched a smartphone aimed at the "gamer" market as if other brands have made (Xiaomi or Honor are the first that come to mind) Samsung continues to give capital importance to the enjoyment of games on their smartphones. Proof of this is the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 with Fortnite exclusively, the Samsung mobile being the first Android terminal where we could test the Epic Games game.

Since the last betas of Android 9 Pie for the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and the Samsung Galaxy S9, a new feature geared towards gaming consumption was discovered. We mean a Dolby Atmos mode for games which increases the volume of running apps while perfecting the sound through headphones. Interestingly, the release of Android 9 Pie for the Samsung Galaxy S9 removed this possibility from the Galaxy S9 range, but not with the Samsung Galaxy Note 9.

The update of the Galaxy Note with Android 9 Pie does include a game option to use Dolby Atmos when playing with the mobile but instead of being enabled automatically, you have to access the settings of the smartphone, unlike what we saw in the final betas of the operating system.

Set up Dolby Atmos for games on the Samsung Galaxy Note 9

To locate the Dolby Atmos settings for games, you must start the configuration application of your Samsung Galaxy Note 9. Once inside, locate the S settingssound and vibration and, within it, access the options cadvanced sound configuration. Now select the menu to configure the quality and sound effects of the mobile and you will find two options: one to activate Dolby Atmos in general and another to activate the Dolby Atmos for gaming on the Galaxy Note 9.

And what do we get out of this? By separately executing this mode of Dolby Atmos, you can change the settings for the game without having to modify the primary Dolby Atmos configuration that we have preset on the mobile. In this way you can enjoy games, music and films alike without having to change the settings over and over again. The effect on games is slightly higher volume and clearer perception of bass and treble when playing with headphones on the Samsung Galaxy Note 9.

This sound mode is likely to make its way to the Samsung Galaxy S9 in future system updates as well.
