The Huawei P30 and the Honor View20 can already measure in augmented reality

AR Measure

It was a feature that had been expected for a long time, and that now the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro, and the Honor View20, the flagships of Huawei and Honor respectively, can already Measure distances through augmented reality.

The long-awaited function has been added with the update to EMUI 9.1.0.140 for the Huawei P30 and EMUI 9.0.1.173 with Magic UI for the Honor, which has made an app with the name appear on users' phones AR Measure.

AR Measure

AR Measure (AR stands for Augmented Reality, that is, Augmented Reality in Spanish), is how this application has been baptized. Both the Huawei P30 (and its Pro version, obviously) and the Honor View20, have a built-in sensor that they have named 3D Time of Flight, which is a sensor that allows us to have very precise information about the distances between the phone and a physical object or between one point and another point on a flat surface, which is the main operation of the application.

The function was already available for the Huawei P30, which already had AR Measure installed natively in China, the country of origin of the brand, but it is seen that it did not work correctly, now it works perfectly, both in the Chinese units and units from the rest of the world.

A user has shared a video testing the application and it is seen that it works like a charm, and we are sure that more than one of you will make the most of this option.

In addition, with the update, Huawei has taken advantage of and updated the security patch to April 2019, and the touch response for the Honor View20.

Not all that glitters is gold

But not everything is as fantastic as it seems, the problem is that the Honor View20 has only received that update in China, And although we are convinced that we will receive it globally, at the moment we do not know when it will arrive.

With the P30 and P30 Pro there is no problem, we already have it for everyone, so we assume that it is a matter of a few weeks to see it on the phones of the Huawei sub-brand.

While you wait for the update to arrive you can use Measure, from Google. It does not use the fantastic sensor of the Huawei, but it does not work badly. Would you give it a try?

It is clear that this functionality has great value for certain people, but we wonder ... How many of you would use it? Leave us in the comments if you would use this new option!
