Improve the performance of your Nexus 6 by removing the encryption included by default

Android-security

It has been known that one of the great advances that come in Android Lollipop in the security section, such as the encryption of its content, makes the operation of the device in question slower than expected. Therefore, models like the Nexus 6 are affected For this.

The report that was released yesterday by Anantd Tech This is confirmed and, therefore, the improvement of security has a clear detriment in terms of how quickly the data could be read if encryption was not present. And, so much so, that in some cases there are users who are not satisfied with the processing speed of their new Nexus 6 and, one of the reasons for this, is the one we are commenting on.

Nexus 6

In this way, more than one  consider removing it directly but, until now, I didn't quite know how to do it. Well, we explain it step by step since it is not possible to do this easily within the operating system itself. Therefore, you have to perform certain specific manipulations that we will indicate below (and by the way, if the terminal is not rooted it is necessary to do so, you can see how to get it in this link and the information inside the terminal will be erased).

Steps to remove encryption from Nexus 6

First of all, it must be pointed out that this is a delicate process and that it may not be carried out correctly (users indicate that it is not 100% reliable), which would force the use of a factory image with Android Lollipop. Therefore, the first thing is that you must be sure you want to take this step and, second, that it is the sole responsibility of the user himself to undertake it.

  • Download the file you will need to use at this link
  • Restart the Nexus 6 to enter the bootloader
  • Now you must "flash" the terminal using the following command flashboot flash boot boot_noforceencrypt.img
  • In principle, the Nexus 76 should already be without encryption, but if not, you must factory restore the terminal
  • If this still does not work, it is best to install a factory image again on the device to reverse the situation and, if desired, proceed again. If you start again, it is advisable to use a tool such as TWRP to explore whether this way leads to success.

Finally, it must be said that once the updates that Google releases of the operating system are received, the absence of encryption will be lost, so this is recommended to be done manually and wait for independent developers to work on removing it before doing anything.
