Meizu officially confirms its work with the Ubuntu operating system

Meizu MX4

New statements come from Meizu Russia, which has wanted to confirm that they are officially working with the guys from Canonical to incorporate the Ubuntu mobile operating system in their terminals. However, the company does not abandon its own Flyme OS system, based on the Android architecture.

Meizu engineers are currently working on the Ubuntu version that we have already had the opportunity to see about a Meizu MX3, presented at the recent CES 2014 in Las Vegas. Greater stability and performance improvements seem to be the two main concerns of the engineers in this regard. There is no doubt that this confirmation brings the arrival of an own terminal for Ubuntu OS closer, that we remember, recently stopped giving support for much of the Nexus family.

Of course, from Meizu they want to make it clear that the possible launch of Ubuntu on their terminals, would not arrive before they update the current ROM of their Flyme OS, Android-based system under which your current Meizu MX2 and Meizu MX3 are downloaded.

Ubuntu MX3

Possible terminal for the end of the year with Ubuntu

In any case, one thing is clear, and that is that the terminals They do not finish seeing their nearest future clearly from the hand of Android. In this way, without abandoning the Google operating system, manufacturers are committed to differentiation, with their own versions of operating systems - although they continue to be based on Android - or by different alternatives. Leaving aside Windows Phone, which has already established itself as the third mobile platform, Firefox OS, Salifish OS or Ubuntu seem to be positioning themselves as favorite systems for many manufacturers.

In the case of Meizu, there is speculation with the idea of a possible Meizu MX4 with Ubuntu natively, and that it would see the light in the American market in the final stretch of this 2014. For now, we remind you that the company's bet is the Meizu MX3. This terminal has a Quad-core Exynos 5410 at 1,6 GHz, 2 GB of RAM, a 5,1-inch screen with a resolution of 1.080 x 1.800 pixels, and a battery of 2.400 mHa. We'll keep track of Meizu closely to see what more surprises they have in store for this year.
