Microsoft could release Office for Android but they are late

Since I have an Android device (I started with a G1, the first to carry it, and I'm now on the fifth) I have come across hundreds of applications. Some have helped me a lot, others were curious and some I haven't even opened. But I always missed a good office app and whether we like it or not, Microsoft's was at least the best candidate. But they have always refused. Now it looks like they might get her out, but I think they're already late.

According to our colleagues at BGR, Microsoft would have almost ready a version of its Office for Android (and also for iOS). They assure that they would present it next fall, in November specifically, all the available applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint… A source to whom they give all credibility has explained that both launches would be more designed for tablets, the iPad and Android phones, than for mobile phones, although they do not rule out taking it out for them as well.

That source, who would have had in his hands a tablet with the Office working, maintains that it has the same appearance as the app on an iPad that appeared last February. Then, Microsoft assured that it was a simple rumor without any foundation. This time they still haven't said anything.

In any case, the presence of Office on both Android and iOS should have come before. Microsoft has had several years to launch them, but it has only done so for mobiles based on its systems, first Windows Mobile and now Windows Phone. They must have believed that it was giving weapons to the enemy. But that conservative approach has been proven wrong.

The gap that Office did not fill, a site that it deserved almost in its own right, has been filled by different applications, almost entirely paid. And for many, including myself, there are already free alternative solutions. Since I have Google Docs and Drive on my computer, I don't use Office and only Libre Office very occasionally. It is also my tool to work on mobile.

Faced with this situation, by the time Microsoft's Office arrives on Android, the train has been out for a long time and no one is going to miss them.
