Moto G4 or Moto G4 Plus, which mobile should you buy?

Moto G4 Plus

Ok, we already assume that the Moto G4 is going to be one of the phones of the year, probably the most relevant mid-range smartphone of this 2016, and one of the best sellers. But it comes in two versions, the Moto G4 Plus and the Moto G4. Small features differentiate these two smartphones, and if you are wondering which one to buy, we are going to help you decide.

How much is a fingerprint reader and a good camera worth?

We are not going to talk about the prices of the two versions yet. In fact, although I know approximately what each smartphone costs, I have not confirmed the prices as I write this paragraph. It is not necessary yet. It is necessary to know what is the main difference between the Moto G4 and the Moto G4 Plus. There will be no differences in operation or performance. We can run the same games and the same apps on both phones. Both feature the same waterproof plastic design, and the same 5,5-inch screen with Full HD resolution. The versions that arrive in Spain of these two mobiles are the same, the one that has a RAM of 2 GB and an internal memory of 16 GB.

Thus, the main differences between one version and the other is the fingerprint reader and the camera. And what you should ask yourself, before knowing the price of the two smartphones, is how much would you be willing to spend so that your mobile has a fingerprint reader and a quality camera. Think about this well. Are you simply looking for a mobile that works well and is inexpensive? You don't care about the fingerprint reader at all? Don't you want to take especially good photos with your mobile? The answer to these questions is key to determining which mobile to buy from you. But now yes, we are going to talk about the prices of the two versions, and why choose one version or the other, as well as which one would I stay on a personal level.

Moto G4 Plus

Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus

The two mobiles are already available on Amazon, in the two colors in which they were presented, black and white. The prices of these mobiles are about 230 euros for the Moto G4 and about 270 euros for the Moto G4 Plus. Thus, the difference between the two is 40 euros.

From my point of view, I would only recommend the Moto G4 if you don't have any money, and it is the only thing you can buy. That is, you have exactly 230 euros, or your financial situation is very limited, and you don't want to spend more money. If that's your case, maybe the Moto G4 is interesting. If this is not your case, if you can make a little effort and buy the Moto G4 Plus, buy it.

The fingerprint reader may have a less relevant role, but for me the camera is a very relevant factor. It is not easy to find cameras of this quality in mid-range mobiles, and although the Moto G4 also has its own camera to shoot photos, the truth is that the Moto G4 Plus has its own camera for a mobile of about 700 or 800 euros. Analysis of DxOMark, a reference in the world of smartphones, tells us that it is at the level of the iPhone 6s Plus camera. All with a 16 megapixel sensor, phase detection autofocus, and laser autofocus.

40 euros is not enough for a mobile capable of obtaining very good photographs. Do you want a mobile to use for a few years with a good camera? This is your choice. If you are fond of photography, of course having a slightly better camera on your mobile will be something you will want, for when you cannot take the camera with you. And if you are not fond of photography, almost with more reason, because your mobile will be the only camera you will have. I assure you that with this camera you can get really good results, and spending just 40 euros more is a great option.
