Motorola says "Goodbye", Lenovo makes it the name of its high-end mobiles

Every year, Motorola mobiles become a reference. Mainly the Motorola Moto G, a smartphone that we have come to call the king of the mid-range. However, Motorola is now saying "Goodbye." There will be no more Motorola phones, at least not as they had been launched so far. Lenovo is going to make the brand the name of its high-end mobiles.

"Moto by Lenovo"

This is how the new smartphones that are launched with the Motorola brand will be called. "Moto by Lenovo". We do not know exactly what the name of these will be, but most likely we are talking about the Lenovo Moto X, Lenovo Moto G and Lenovo Moto E. Well, it is very likely that the latter will not be launched. Because, according to Lenovo's Rick Osterloh, at CES 2016, "Moto by Lenovo" will become the company's high-end mobiles. Neither the Moto E nor the Moto G are high-end, so they may never be released again.

Lenovo Vibe, the mid-range

The mid-range will become Vibe. And we assume that it will be something like "Vibe by Lenovo." In other words, this coming year the king of the mid-range could actually be the Lenovo Vibe G, instead of the Motorola Moto G 2016. Is Lenovo's strategy smart? The truth is that it does not seem that the new Lenovo Vibe G is going to be considered the king of the mid-range, and more considering that not even the Motorola Moto G 2015 was worthy of that title with rivals such as Meizu Metal or Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. It was his name that was really relevant, and it is precisely his name that will not be present in the new version. Of course, perhaps the "Moto G 2016" will be launched. It would be a "high-end" of the mid-range. Lenovo may simply want to use the Moto brand for mobiles that will stand out in different ranges, and not just for the high-end. In any case, this is something that will be confirmed when the first Moto and Vibe smartphones from Lenovo start to launch. What is clear is that this is Goodbye for Motorola.
