MyHome, the MIUI launcher, reaches almost all Android

Having two mobiles in one, at least in appearance, is possible thanks to the launchers of alternative developers such as Go Ex or MIUI. Today we have to talk about the latter. This Chinese group has just launched the first stable version of its MyHome launcher for Ice Cream Sandwich. In addition, they have released today a version for Android devices with Gingerbread, which are the majority.

MIUI has put the two versions of its MyHome on Google Play. Once installed (in my case on a previous beta version that they released in April), the first thing to say is that, compared to other modifications, it is not necessary to have the mobile phone rooted. Just install and go. For those who do not know it, when they open it, the first thing that will attract their attention is the cleanliness and simplicity of its interface. Many say that it reminds too much of iOS, but I do not entirely agree.

It comes with a theme (wallpaper) but you can change it and choose with the tens and tens that it offers online. The second thing that stands out is that it offers many more screens than the five that come by default with Ice Cream Sandwich. MyHome comes with 10, but you can add more (I have not checked how many more). And is that one of the strengths of its philosophy is to have all the apps on the screen at hand.

The most fun and advisable thing is to go to the MyHome settings and start playing with them, it has so many prsonalization options that we would need several posts to count them all. From the way of transition between screens, to the thousand and one ways to create a new widget, perhaps one of its elements I like the most. But as I say, the best thing is to play with all the possibilities it offers.

The people of MIUI have had the wisdom to see the implementation statistics of the different versions of Android. With more than 60% of the devices with Gingerbread, they have decided to extend their MyHome to this version as well and not just reserve it for the minority that have Ice Cream Sandwich.

Those of you who have Android 2.3.3 can download MyHome from here.
