The new Google Maps includes a WiFi Only mode

Google Maps

Google Maps is one of those essential applications when we travel because, as much as we know perfectly the area we are going to visit, in the end always for some things or for others we have to resort to this app. Now a novelty is announced for the update of the application and it is a WiFi Only mode that will help us save data.

Only WiFi?

A WiFi Only mode? A mode of this type in Google Maps might seem strange, because the application already includes an option with which it is possible to download offline maps of different areas of the city or of different areas of the country. So what is the logic of a WiFi Only mode? Well, it is really simple. When we leave an area where we have offline maps, and we enter an area where we do not have maps, the mobile connects and begins to use our mobile data. If we do not have much mobile data, or if we are charged when we exceed the maximum contracted, we will not want that to happen. With the WiFi Only function, we can prevent the mobile from spending more data, except that we are connected to a WiFi network. It is a somewhat redundant option, but it will be useful to avoid problems when it comes to running out of data.

In addition to this, the new version will also come with information on delays in public transport, something that could be very useful if it really had a good integration of all Spanish cities. And, for example, in many cities in Spain there is already an application that tells us the stopping and arrival times of each of the buses and public transport, so it does not become a very essential function, except for that it had the same data, and was just as accurate as the application of each of the cities, of course.

These news are coming to Google Maps without the need to update the app, it will only be necessary to have a version after 9.32.
