What we know about the launch of Xiaomi's HyperOS

What is the new HyperOS and the Xiaomi launch like?

The Chinese technology manufacturer Xiaomi carried out the HyperOS official launch, its new operating system based on Android, the Linux kernel and the Vela system. Behind this new software proposal, which will be the definitive replacement for the MIUI customization layer, there is a specific objective. Achieve an ecosystem compatible with mobile phones, televisions and other devices of the Xiaomi Signature.

The presentation of the new family of Xiaomi 14 mobile phones, which will come with the new HyperOS installed at the factory, was also the way to publicize Xiaomi's new initiative whose slogan is: Human x Car x Home. This implies that the HyperOS system will allow connect different Xiaomi mobile devices, as well as the smart car or smart home devices.

Xiaomi's HyperOS and the new launch for the brand

Unlike MIUI, which was only a customization layer for the Android operating system, with HyperOS we are looking at a complete operating system experience. It is based on Android libraries to guarantee compatibility, on the Linux kernel and open source as well as on Xiaomi's own system called Vela. With all these systems and technologies, HyperOS appears to combine connectivity in all Xiaomi devices as well as better use of resources. Behind this new operating system there is an attempt to offer greater versatility and lower resource consumption.

Compared to other mobile operating systems, HyperOS is lighter. Its installation occupies 8,75 GB, where other systems such as Apple's iOS require a minimum of 11 GB to run. Being lighter and easier to run, Xiaomi's HyperOS can be used in other types of devices such as smart cars, tablets, televisions, headphones and smart speakers, among others.

The design of the new release of Xiaomi HyperOS

Together with Xiaomi 14 launch, visual and design aspects of HyperOS were also revealed. The new operating system has some features similar to those of the MIUI customization layer, but incorporates new functions and everything necessary to understand it more as a full-fledged operating system. Its style is a little more minimalist, thus ensuring that the main screen is only covered by the basic functions and navigation through the museums is more intuitive. You will be able to use a series of new widgets to control configuration aspects and a total aesthetic renewal for the icon design.

Among the functions demonstrated in the presentation we can mention the possibility of quickly moving an application from the mobile phone to the computer or tablet, or the copy and paste function between different devices. It uses two special technologies to optimize resources and take advantage of the full potential of hardware: HyperConnect and HyperMind.

What is HyperConnect?

HyperConnect is the ecosystem which is responsible for managing the capabilities of HyperOS between different devices. It is the heart of being able to interact between a mobile phone or tablet and other smart devices, such as the car or the television. Thanks to its operation, you can see from the phone screen what the smart car camera is recording, or receive and respond to mobile notifications from the TV.

What is HyperMind for?

The other tool for Making the most of the HyperOS experience is called HyperMind. It is a proactive intelligence system that learns from your different routines and actions to notify you and automate specific actions. For example, imagine that whenever you enter your house using a smart door you also give commands to your lamps to turn on. HyperMind will learn this routine and will tell you, before you finish opening the door, if you want to turn on the lights. This way you can configure other specific actions, such as setting the output sound on the TV if you just receive a call. HyperMind can lower the volume while you talk and raise it back to its original state shortly after cutting off.
