Nvidia presents its Tegra 4 SoC and Project Shield at CES

The arrival of Nvidia Tegra 4 It was an open secret, although the company had not confirmed the exact date on which it would present this new SoC in society. Well, this has happened in the course of the Nvidia press conference at this fair held in Las Vegas and, therefore, several details of its bet for the year 2013 are already known.

As announced at the time Android AyudaThis new processor -which will already be compatible with LTE connectivity if necessary- aims to offer the best image experience without forgetting good performance in other sections. Therefore, perhaps the most remarkable novelty is that inside the GPU (graphics card) has 72 cores, so it is to be expected that its performance is really good with, for example, games. According to Nvidia itself, this component is up to 6 times faster than Tegra 3 and, in addition, it offers support for Direct3D 11 and OpenGL 4.0 APIs.

As you can see, a good development that, at the base, maintains those that Tegra 3 already included but much more evolved. Undoubtedly, this model can be a very important launch in the advancement in terms of three-dimensional images and, in addition, this fits in with the launch of Project Shield.

A surprising release: Project Shield

This is the surprise that Nvidia had in store for CES. The CEO of the company, Jen-Hsun Huang, after telling the news of Tegra 4, the white rabbit was pulled out of his hat: a handheld console including Android Jelly Bean unmodified and that, in addition, it will have a Tegra 4 SoC inside. That is, it will be impressive in its performance and image quality. Undoubtedly, a novelty that surprises and that, in addition, will be supported by TegraZone, the section that this company has for games specially created to take advantage of its processors.

Nvidia Project Shield

As you can see in the previous image, it has a 5 inch with a controller in a "pack" that has a shell-like design that opens and closes ... the Nintendo DS type, but with other lines. It supports 4K images and has HDMI output allowing Project Shield to be connected to televisions.

The included panel offers a 720p resolution (with a density of 296 dpi) and offers a really good image quality. When it comes to connectivity, the support of WiFi and Bluetooth, without DLNA being confirmed but, normally, it is from the game. Undoubtedly a product that will give a lot to talk about and that is already an object of desire for more than one.

The release dates are not confirmed for either Tegra 4 or Project Shield, but an email from Nvidia itself indicates that sometime in Q2 both products could be put on sale this year. Regarding the SoC, no manufacturers have been indicated that will include it in their models. Good news from Nvidia that confirms its strong commitment to the Android world.
