Nvidia Tegra K1 processor shatters the competition in benchmarks

Nvidia Tegra K1 processor

Since the arrival of the new processor was announced Nvidia Tegra K1 at CES in Las Vegas, a lot is being said about this component. This SoC is based on the Kepler architecture typical of GeForce graphics cards that the same manufacturer has for PCs, which include no less than 192 cores for graphics.

The fact is that some very interesting results have been known in one of the best-known benchmarks that exist: AnTuTu. These, to begin with, confirm that there will be two variants of the Nvidia Tegra K1, one that has two 64-bit cores that operate at a frequency of 3 GHz, and, the second, a SoC that has four 32-bit “cores” that they would run at 2,5 GHz.

The fact is that the results show that these components offer really impressive performance, and that the score they obtain in the synthetic test leaves no doubt: they will be the best processors on the market when they are available (which everything indicates that it will happen in both cases before the end of this year, although the 64-bit model will be delayed a bit longer). As you can see in the image that we leave below, there is no doubt what we indicate:

Nvidia Tegra K1 processor compared results

The fact is that the new Nvidia Tegra K1 successfully surpass the most powerful processors on the current market, such as Samsung's Exynos and Qualcomm's Snapdragon. But, the most striking thing is that even the Snapdragon 805 that is to come lags behind the processors we are talking about (always based on the benchmarks that have been known to date).

The difference is very big, so Qualcomm seems to have difficulties "above, with the arrival of the Nvidia SoCs, and" below, "with MediaTek's core models and those to come from Samsung. Therefore, the market for processors becomes very interesting and, in short, the reign of this is not at all clear.

Before concluding, it is important to indicate that to run the AnTuTu benchmark, as you can see in the image behind this paragraph, a device with a 1080p screen, Android operating system was used. KitKat 4.4.2 and 2 GB of RAM. That is, they are characteristics that perfectly validate the results.

AnTuTu Result Nvidia Tegra K1

In short, the Nvidia Tegra K1 arrive stomping and it is clear that they will be processors that will not have problems with terminals with panels to 1.440p, that everything indicates that they will be available in the not too distant future. Of course, there is a detail that is not known and that is important: energy management. If this is good, we are talking about SoCs that can “break” the market and leave Qualcomm's in the background.
