Huawei was one of the first phone manufacturers to incorporate a color sensor and a black and white sensor, with your Huawei P9 and with your Huawei P10. It may be that OnePlus also bet on this technology. The monochrome sensor allows more detail and is more sensitive to light so combining sharp black and white photos with those taken with the normal color sensor would have resulted in a much sharper image than that obtained by an RGB camera.
