Google offers Android to all manufacturers. Why? Because it allows you to do business and earn more money. By having an operating system that everyone can use, manufacturers can focus primarily on hardware. In return, Google offers its services and applications, which are mandatory pre-installed. It is the price paid not only by brands, but also by users. After all, these apps are free to use, so it's easy to get 'trapped' in the ecosystem of Google.
Perhaps this is more obvious if we look at the everlasting search bar that we find on the home screen. Unless we use a custom launcher, it is difficult to get it out of the way. If we use it, we are already within the Google Search app. And if we are accessing links, we use Chrome Custom Tabs to browse by default. What if you want to change this? What if you want to use a search bar widget with another browser? What you have to do? We will tell you.
How to have a search bar from any browser on Android
The first thing would be remove google search bar to make room for a new one. In this way, we remove in the first instance what causes problems: depending on the service of Google. Afterwards, we must install an application called SearchBar Former. Available for free on the Play Store, it is a highly customizable app that will let you create custom search bar widgets. We are not talking only about browsers, but also about, for example, YouTube.
Once the app is installed, we must either click on its icon in the application drawer or directly install one of its widgets. When you do this, you will see the default G for Google. Press it and the setup menu will appear. You will see an option of Add and another option of Settings. It is good that you take a look at the latter to be able to customize the widget, but you must click on the first option.Among the options that appear, choose Search and then choose Search Custom.
You will have several options to choose from. Click on the icon and choose the browser you want - Firefox Focus in our example. Give it whatever name you prefer. In the URL section, press the icon on the right and select your preferred search engine - Duck Duck Go in our example. In the browser choose one of the list it offers - it detects the installed ones. In command you do not need to fill in anything.
Once you finish, press the arrow top left to come back. Of course, we are not done yet. You have two options: or reorder the icons and put the new one on top or delete the one that comes by default from Google. Both options are holding down the icons in the list. Once you do one of those two things, you will have created a search widget that will use the browser of your choice with the search engine of your choice.
