We had been without news from Sony in the segment of wearable accessories for a while, and this has ended since a new smart bracelet from this company has been officially announced: the Sony SmartBand 2. In this way, a step in the evolution of this product is taken, which is one of the most attractive on the market and, in addition, it is fully compatible with Android terminals.
The main functionality of Sony SmartBand 2 is to recognize the physical exercise that is performed, being the model that it replaces one of the most reliable that I have tested so far. Therefore, good things are to be expected from this new product. To better accomplish its job, it has been added a sensor that allows to know the heart rate of the user, which combined with the accelerometer allows to have quite detailed information.
Another possibility offered by the Sony SmartBand 2 is to automatically detect the sleep time and its quality. In this way, the information that the accessory is capable of providing is extensive, since it is able to indicate the progress in relation to physical exercise and, also, if the rest is adequate for the user. To know this, you must use a application called Lifelog that is installed on the Android terminal (version 4.4 or higher) that you have and with which you communicate through Bluetooth technology -a maximum of 10 meters-.
A very useful LED
This is another of the new options that are part of the Sony SmartBand 2, since it integrates a set of LEDs that offer interesting information to the user. For example, these look different when you have a message without reading it or receive a call on the phone. By the way, there is another addition that must be taken into account: by pressing (tap) on the bracelet itself, it is possible from stop music playback or skip track. This is very suitable when playing sports.
Finally, and as in the previous model, the Sony SmartBand 2 bracelet integrates a rechargeable battery that offers an autonomy of two days without problems (and is refilled in just one hour). The hardware element can be removed from the bracelet itself and the IP68 certification it is present, so there are no problems with water and dust.
The arrival of the Sony SmartBand 2 is confirmed in 60 countries, so I am sure that Spain is one of them and it will arrive in two colors at first: black and white (but pink and indigo have already been announced later). The price of this accessory that will go on sale in September 2015 will be $119.
