You may be one of the lucky owners of a smartphone whose battery can be charged wirelessly. Last year, the number of smartphones that could be charged in this way was very low, and therefore existing chargers were rare and expensive. What charger can you buy today if you have one of these smartphones? Which is better?
Qi wireless technology
First of all, it should be mentioned that the following chargers use Qi wireless technology. In reality, Qi is nothing more than an established standard for what is called induction electric charge. This technology allows a battery to be charged even when the smartphone is separated from the charging base, with a maximum distance of four centimeters. Some smartphones may not be compatible with the following chargers, due to using a different technology or not complying with the standard. Therefore, it is best to check the compatibility indicated by the manufacturer before buying one of the chargers.
Nexus 4 Orbs
Oddly enough, the Nexus 4 Orb is one of the highest quality wireless chargers ever released. This charger had some special features that set it apart from other chargers. One of those characteristics is that the smartphone was tilted, so that we could see the screen while we worked. Not only was it a charger, so to speak, it was a complete charging dock. Its compatibility is also high, as it works with the Nexus 4, with the Nexus 5, with the new Nexus 7, and with a large number of smartphones with batteries that can be charged by means of electrical induction.
The biggest problem with this charger is that it is already difficult to buy. And it seems that it is going to be replaced by a much simpler version that no longer has a sphere shape, but is rectangular, and is just a sheet that is put on the table.
Wireless Nexus Charger
A charger that, although it has not yet been launched on the market, is expected to be the official new generation Google charger. A priori, it should improve on the previous Google wireless charger. The problem we can find ourselves with, yes, is that now the Mountain View company tries to reduce its manufacturing costs as much as possible and both its design and quality are worse. In any case, we will still have to wait to find out what the Google charger is like.

When the charger is launched by one of the most famous companies in the world when it comes to batteries and chargers, such as Energizer, then it is obvious that it is a high quality charger. However, the angle it has makes it not particularly good for the Nexus 4, as it slides, something that does not happen with the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7. In any case, there are other Energizer options that even allow you to charge several smartphones or tablets at the same time.
Panasonic QE-TM101
Panasonic has also chosen to manufacture an induction charger for the new smartphones and tablets compatible with this charging system. The best thing about this charger is that it is the induction coil that automatically searches where the smartphone is to charge the battery in the best possible way. The biggest drawback is that as it has moving elements, it is noisy in the process of movement.
Nokia DT-900
And of course, we cannot forget those products that will be useful for smartphones of various brands. The Nokia DT-900 was the Finnish company's charger for its Lumia. However, the truth is that it can also be used with phones from other brands. It does not seem to charge the Nexus 4 battery too well, but there are not as many problems charging the Nexus 5 battery. Sometimes, we could have this charger already, or even buy a second-hand unit. Taking into account that chargers from other brands are also compatible could make us have it as an option in case there is an interesting offer.
