We expected it at the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S6, but before this we knew that the smartwatch would be left for later, and that it would be launched later. It was not only a question of marketing, since the CEO of Samsung Mobile, JK Shin, appeared saying that the smartwatch would arrive, but that it was necessary to continue working on it to improve it, because they wanted it to be perfect. Words that are strange in a company like Samsung, that when it does not know exactly which smartphone to launch on the market, it launches them all at once. However, we can do nothing but praise this new strategy whose only result can only be a watch of a higher quality than what we could expect if it had been launched alongside the Samsung Galaxy S6.
3G and calls
The Samsung Gear S already arrived with 3G and with the possibility of making calls, but the truth is that precisely for this Samsung Gear A it was expected that this feature would be lost. That smart watch was heavy, big and expensive, and perhaps they wanted to avoid these three characteristics by eliminating the possibility of making calls and 3G. However, it seems that this time of reflection for Samsung after the Galaxy S6 has served them to finally decide to launch a watch with 3G and the ability to make calls, a watch independent of the smartphone. Even so, we continue to see Samsung's strategy, as they will launch two versions, one with 3G and one without it, although both should have Bluetooth and WiFi.
So far, the internal names of ten variants of this smartphone have already appeared, of which we are interested in two: SM-R720 which will be the standard version, and SM-R730 which will be the version with 3G, with the other eight modifications being the latter, specific to different operators.
And we cannot forget two things that will be key to the success of this watch. First of all, there is the fact that the screen is going to be circular. Samsung's first watch with a circular display, which could attract a lot of users' attention. Second is the fact that the Samsung Galaxy S6 has been extremely successful. Although we still have to wait to see how much it sells, users have received it very well, criticism has been scant, and its sales success may already be confirmed. This will help the Samsung Gear A, as it will be a smartwatch that will probably only be compatible with Samsung smartphones.
