The most used instant messaging application in the world, and one of the most downloaded in our country, WhatsApp Messenger, it could change in the coming weeks in a very important way. Basically, a version for tablets could be launched, and the restriction that allowed the application to be used on a single smartphone could be removed. And with this, many changes would come, which could be related to Facebook.
We already mentioned last week that WhatsApp was going to be the application that Mediaset was going to use to disseminate information about the Spanish National Team, and so that users could send their messages, photos or videos of encouragement to the members of the Selection. This was already beginning to be a kind of advertising agreement, which was but the first step that Facebook took to turn WhatsApp into a profitable application.
However, it seems that the application will change in the coming weeks, and that in a matter of months it could be fully integrated with Facebook. Months ago, when Facebook bought WhatsApp and we talked about what could happen from now on, we commented that one option was for Facebook to end up integrating the messaging application also in its social network. And it seems that the first step is already going to be taken.
WhatsApp on tablets
We talk about the possibility of using WhatsApp on tablets. Until now, WhatsApp had been an application that could only be used on smartphones. This is demonstrated by the fact that there is no official version of WhatsApp for iPad, nor can the iPhone application be used on the Apple tablet. WhatsApp did not want the application to be installed on tablets, it's that simple.
Well, it seems that that could change. One of the novelties that would come with respect to the new application would be the possibility of installing the application not only on smartphones, but also on tablets. So far, Android seemed to have more possibilities with tablets to install the application. However, this app will not simply be an .apk file that can be installed on tablets, but will arrive with more changes.
As you know, if you have the WhatsApp application installed on a smartphone, and you have logged in with your mobile number, you will not be able to use WhatsApp with that number on any other smartphone. Therefore, even if you had managed to install the application on an Android tablet, it was of little value if you already had the application on a smartphone, since you could not use WhatsApp simultaneously on both devices with the same number.
The launch of a WhatsApp application for tablets could also mean the end of this restriction. What it would mean is that we could use WhatsApp on our tablet and on our smartphone, or even on any other smartphone, with the same number, and sometimes write with one of them, and at other times with the other.
WhatsApp on PC and on Facebook?
The objective of this change could be that the application not only reaches tablets, but also computers, or even integrates with Facebook. For the social network to have the application, it was necessary to end the restriction of being able to use the application only on smartphones. With the launch of the version for tablets, this restriction would end, and therefore, the future of WhatsApp could also be to reach computers and Facebook. Although many have criticized that Facebook may want to change WhatsApp, being able to have the application on the computer, or even being able to use the app from Facebook without having to install any program on the PC, is a great option.
However, even if it was finally confirmed that WhatsApp is going to reach tablets, it is most likely that the arrival of the application on computers or Facebook will still take a few more months. Facebook will not want to give the impression that WhatsApp is going to change completely, and will prefer to make gradual changes. After all, this policy of not launching major changes to the application is something that has identified WhatsApp from the beginning. And they already have enough that they will be able to make VoIP phone calls with the application to add important new features in such a short time.
