WhatsApp for Android has received a new update for the stable version of the application. The new update is very similar, and in fact it is the same, as the last update available for the Beta, so if you have this latest Beta you will not find anything new in the stable version of Google Play. However, for those of you who have the conventional version, the news will be relevant.

One of these novelties has to do with the double blue check that WhatsApp included in one of the most recent versions. This double check adds new information, since it allows you to know when the other user has seen the message. So far we could only know if the message had been sent, and if it had been received on the smartphone, but the latter did not allow us to confirm if it had been read. With the double blue check it is possible. The novelty now is that this option can be deactivated from the application's Settings. In addition, the chat groups now have up to 100 participants, a figure that has been increasing since the launch of the application and that was already necessary for very large groups, in which it was necessary to create several groups so that all people were in them.

However, more relevant than the latter is the fact that the vulnerability that allowed users to block other people's smartphones by sending messages weighing 2 kilobytes has been corrected. This is no longer the case, and therefore, although we now send these messages, the smartphone and WhatsApp they will continue to function normally.

Finally, it should be noted that a new permission has been added to the application, which is so that they can connect to Bluetooth devices. Although this detail does not seem particularly relevant, the truth is that it could have the objective of launching a WhatsApp application with more options for smart watches. Currently the options are a bit limited, but with the permission to communicate with smartwatches, there would be many more possibilities. All this without forgetting that the application could contain in the .apk file some snippets of code that contain hidden functions, as was the case with the code that it already included related to the web version of WhatsApp.

The update is now available from Google Play. If you have automatic updates activated, you will already have the new version. If not, then you will have to update the application yourself.
