What are the most important characteristics when choosing a new mobile?

It's amazing how many different criteria users follow when choosing a new smartphone. Some users observe the technical characteristics of the mobile, others the design, the camera, or even the speakers. There are those who are looking for a fingerprint reader or a USB Type-C port. There are even users who think ahead of the updates they will receive. This is my order of preference when choosing a new mobile.

1.- RAM memory

First is the RAM. For me it has become the essential element of any smartphone. In general, a higher capacity RAM means a mobile with a higher performance. In addition, when a mobile phone has a large capacity RAM, it also has a good processor, so the level of the smartphone will be in line with that of the RAM. All this without talking about another detail. RAM memory determines how many years a smartphone will live. The more RAM you have, the more years of life the smartphone will have.

2.- Processor

Following the RAM is the processor in my case. The processor needs to be in balance with the RAM. It always is. But in any case, it is always good to make sure that the mobile has a good processor. I do not accept any mobile that does not have a processor that is, at least, mid-range.

3.- Internal memory

Nothing below 32GB. With 32 GB I have enough to install all the apps I want. I can do without some things that I don't need if I ever run out of space. But 32GB will be enough. If you can also expand the memory better than better. But for me, these are the three elements that should be key in any mobile.

4.- Design

Knowing already that the mobile is going to work well, the next most relevant element for me is the design. Not so much because it is a nice mobile, that too. But for several elements. One of them is if it will be a very large mobile in relation to the screen it has. That is, if the bezels are thin. It seems to me something key. Also that the mobile is resistant. If it's waterproof, it's ideal for me. If not, at least it has a design that is robust, that does not break easily. My mobiles tend to drop quite a bit to the ground.

5.- Battery

If the mobile is going to work well, and in addition it is not going to break, I only have to know if the autonomy of the smartphone will be enough for the smartphone to survive at least one day. That's good for me. Of course, if the battery allows me to completely forget when I charge the smartphone, all the better. But any mobile phone whose battery reaches a day is worth it.

6.- Camera

At another time, I would have chosen the screen before the camera. Currently not. I have become fond of photography, and it never hurts to have a second camera that takes good photos. At the end of the day, the photos can be exported and later viewed on a computer, and even improved. How they look on the mobile screen is secondary. That is why the camera becomes a key element in any mobile.

7.- Screen

And yes, we get to the screen. However, right now I have a mobile with a 5-inch screen with an HD resolution of 1.280 x 720 pixels and I am very happy. I have had 5,5 inch screens with Quad HD resolutions. I have had mobiles with Full HD screens, and 4,5 inches. And in the end, the truth is that I have seen its advantages for all of them. I do not perceive special deficiencies with a mobile with a 5-inch HD screen, and there is some advantage to being a smaller mobile. It is used well with one hand, for example. For me, it is the last element to consider.
