You will not be able to connect the Nexus 5X to a PC or a conventional charger without a special cable

USB Type-C

The Nexus 5X is the cheapest of the two Google phones, and therefore one of the great options for those looking for a high-quality smartphone without spending the 800 euros that some flagships cost. However, there is a simple detail that could have been improved. With the included cable, you will not be able to use other chargers, or connect your mobile to the PC without a special cable.

USB Type-C

The new Nexus 5X arrives with a new generation USB Type-C connector, thanks to which the cable is reversible. Of course, the accessories it comes with are also USB Type-C. And that includes two accessories mainly, the charger and the USB cable. There are two because in reality the charger already has the cable integrated, and it cannot be removed, so there is an additional cable so that we can connect the smartphone to the computer. However, this is a cable with two USB Type-C connectors. It's perfect if you have a Chromebook Pixel, or the latest MacBook. However, almost no computer right now has a USB Type-C socket. The chargers that we may already have do not have USB Type-C sockets either. That is, we will not be able to use the Nexus 5X with any charger that we already have, or connect it to any computer –except for some that do have a USB Type-C socket–, unless we buy a special cable.

USB Type-C

The same is true for the Nexus 6P, but with one key difference. While it also has the same USB Type-C charger, and a cable with two USB Type-C connectors, this includes a USB Type-C to USB Type-A adapter. That is, you already have that cable that any Nexus 5X user will have to buy. An adapter of this type, or a USB Type-C to USB Type-A cable has a price of about 15 euros, and the truth is that it is not good news for users if we take into account that in Spain already We will have to pay more for this smartphone, because instead of 380 dollars, it will cost 450 euros.
