The 2011 Xperia updated to the Linux kernel 3.0.8

Who was going to tell users of a Sony Xperia of the year 2011, which are already very outdated, which would still receive updates, even if it was from the developers of the community. Specifically, we are talking about the new kernel, since now you can have Linux 3.0.8, which is a great advance if we take into account that the last kernel update was 2.6.32.

Basically, the kernel is the core of the smartphone. Like all Android, the kernel is a Linux, and the version of this determines the actions that can be carried out. How important is the Android kernel? In this the Dalvik virtual machine is installed and on it, which is the one that executes the Java applications that we have installed on our smartphone. Thus, the importance of the kernel can be vital for absolutely everything in the Android operating system, and it can be what determines that some ROMs work correctly or not, or that the smartphone is more or less fast.

Thus, when you choose to update the kernel or the kernel to a more recent one, the results obtained are usually positive, thus achieving a much more optimized smartphone. In this case, we are talking about a jump from Linux kernel 2.6.32 to Linux version 3.0.8. Obviously, it is not an official update, but it is a functional update for many models.

The Xperia of the year 2011 that have a Linux kernel 3.0.8 that works perfectly are the Sony Xperia Mini, Sony Xperia Live with Walkman, Sony Xperia Pro, Sony Xperia Neo and Sony Xperia Neo V. With all these we will not have any problem. With the rest, which includes the Sony Xperia Mini Pro, Sony Xperia Ray, Sony Xperia Active and Sony Xperia Arc, it is possible that the kernel still gives problems, so if we choose to install it we will have to take into account that we can find errors. Here is the link so that you can find the list of compatible smartphones and how to install the kernel.

    Hey.
I have an Xperia Neo, from Orange. It is still with Android 2.3 and that was supposed to go to 4.0 a long time ago.
From the kernel, because yesterday I connected it to Sony PC Companion and I only got the Wifi to stop working (I have not gotten it to work again) but it did not update anything. I guess without 4.0 on Android it won't update the other.

I have an Xperia Neo V from Movistar. The best I could do is release the bootloader and install an XDA ROM on it. At that time, my mobile that is already (17 months old) was fully updated and with a fast, fast and up-to-date operation.
For mid-range phones, it is absolutely essential to free them, remove unwanted programs and install a version of Android that is as clean as possible. Now I have a phone that can last another 12 months.

Hmm sounds interesting. Since I no longer have permanence, I think I will make a backup and test what you tell me. In the worst case ... well, my mobile is 2 years old, I have rented it well.
        Greetings and thank you.

Trust me, there is no color. If you really don't want or can't change your mobile, or you're just happy with it, release it. So you can use your mobile until it breaks down and save money.
