Android N is fine but ... your mobile will not receive it

Android 6.1 Nutella

Do you have one of the flagships of recent years? Because if not, it is very likely that Android N does not interest you. And it is not because it does not have interesting features, or because it is not a version with relevant news. No. But rather due to the fact that it is very likely that your smartphone will not update to the new version of the operating system.

They don't even upgrade to Marshmallow

In fact, the truth is that there are many phones that do not update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. A lot of. To know precisely, we only have to use the data that Google publishes every month regarding the distribution of the quota of versions of the Android operating system worldwide. Only 2% of smartphones have Android 6.0 Marshmallow at the moment. The new version, Android N, would officially arrive in the summer. That means that by the time Android N officially arrives, not even 1 in 10 phones will have Marshmallow. How, then, will have Android N? Well, it seems very clear that Android N will not reach these smartphones.

Only to flagships

Only the big smartphones, as well as the mobiles that are launched in the summer, when Android N is to be launched, will have this new version. And that means that either you have one of the best mobiles of the moment, or it is most likely that the mobile you have right now will not update to the new version. And that again is a problem again. I remember perfectly when it was said that launching a flagship every year was perhaps a lot for users, who could not renew their mobile every year. Today there is not one, there are several flagships that are launched every year. But something similar happens with the versions of the operating system. A new version every year. And the problem of fragmentation still exists. That is, if manufacturers have problems updating their smartphones, and Google continues with the same rate of launching new versions, in the end we will find what has already been mentioned, with that 1 in 10 mobile phones will not have Marshmallow when Android N It will already be officially launched, which will feed back the problem of fragmentation.

In any case, it is good that we talk about Android N, but for mid-range mobile users, these news will not arrive until they buy a new mobile, which could mean, at least, a year.

It must be very frustrating for Google to create operating systems, like now Android N, that only 2% of the population will enjoy

I have a moto x play with marshmallow and because of the updates, my next purchase is going to be an iPhone.
Because surely it runs out of Android N.
Hopefully they give 2 years of support and that motorola is now one of the best in updates.

It's as easy as buying a Nexus and forgetting about all these issues. They are the best mobile phones on the market and with an official support like the iphone, both the nexus 4 and 5 have had 3 years of official support and then a long life with the ROMs.
And the Nexus 5x, which is a great phone call with a brutal and super complete camera, can be caught for € 299, so there is no excuse. Anyone who catches a flagship that they stop updating a year is because they are deceived or deceived.
