Samsung will pay 86,2 million euros for infringing Apple patents

A new chapter arrives in the war of patents between Samsung and Apple, in which again there is a ruling from a US court. In this case, the Korean company has seen how it has been ruled against it and, therefore, must pay the Cupertino an amount that amounts to about 86,2 million euros.

That is, it is considered guilty of patent infringement. Specifically, the one that refers to "quick links and searches" and the one specific to "slide and unblock". In this way, it is indicated that the range of Galaxy devices provided by Apple has not respected the rules and, therefore, Samsung is condemned. But, despite the ruling, it should be noted that the amount that Koreans must pay is well below what Apple was asking for. What's more, this does not even reach 10%.

This is reaffirmed in a statement to Reuters from  Brian love, Professor of Law at the University of Santa Clara, in which he states “the sentence can hardly be considered as a victory for Apple, since the amount is less than 10% of the requested and, surely, this will hardly reach the amount spent by Apple for the trial in question”. The fact is that for now it has not been known that Samsung should stop the production of terminals or that it has to stop selling some in the US, so this does not seem to have been achieved by the creators of iPhone either.

Samsung vs. Apple

Apple has also been fined

Interestingly, the San José (California) jury has also ruled that Apple has infringed on a patent owned by Samsung. This refers to the organization of video and photo, so you must pay an amount of about 114.175 euros. It is certainly a lower amount, but it is still a detail to consider that now both companies have judgments against.

The fact is that this seems like one more chapter between the "war" that the two technological giants maintain, of which they always we have kept you informedThe truth is that it does not seem that it will report much to any of them. Known judgments are an example that it may not be profitable to litigate for this and, perhaps, it is much more profitable reach use agreements regarding patents... something that companies like, are already doing, for example Google. What do you think about the legal battle between Samsung and Apple?
