They announced them yesterday, and it looked like they would make us wait until Friday. But no, in the end it was not like that and WhatsApp has activated the new function of WhatsApp statuses only 24 hours after your ad. Now you can tell your contacts how you feel with a dynamic status and without having to leave the app to upload a Instagram Stories or a Snapchat. Everything within WhatsApp and its slightly modified interface.
Create your WhatsApp States
For those who were not very active on the networks yesterday, the WhatsApp blog was updated with the firm announcement of a function that had been in preparation since last year: The new WhatsApp statuses, a new way to tell your contacts how you are or if something of interest has happened to you without having to go to Instagram to create a story. In itself, and in the purest Snapchat style, it is an image, video or gif that we upload and personalize with text and / or stickers. And according to the blog, on WhatsApp “very happy to announce that, coinciding with WhatsApp's 8th birthday on February 24, we have reinvented the status function. Today we launch an update of the statuses with which you can share images and videos with your friends and WhatsApp contacts ”.
But the truth is that we spent yesterday glued to the mobile (more than usual), and nothing. This function did not appear unless the APK was installed in WhatsApp Beta. And when it seemed that we would have to wait for the same Friday the 24th, just a day later WhatsApp has activated the service in Spain, and WhatsApp statuses they are already operational to be used in all versions Android included, as we see in this screenshot courtesy of another blog.
Different interface
The first thing you will notice when entering the app is a slight change in the interface, since what used to be Chats, Contacts and Calls are now Chats, Status and Calls. In the States tab you have the interface of the new function with which you can create a new WhatsApp status as fast as we would make a Snap on Snapchat or an Instagram Story. You just have to follow the steps that we published just yesterday. And if you want to go a step faster, click on the camera icon that appears right next to Chats to open the WhatsApp camera and take a photo or choose from the recent carousel.
And in case you wonder where the contacts are now, click on the Chats tab and you will see that the icon to display the mobile contact list is now in top right, between the Search magnifying glass and the three dots on the Options menu.
The chats tab appears in a different place depending on the phone or android version. My sister has galaxy A5 (2015) and it comes out at the top right next to the magnifying glass. I have galaxy s7 edge and the chats tab appears at the bottom right in a fixed floating button
