One week replacing a smartphone with a tablet. Conclusions (I)

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 Red

It's over. A week ends in which I have replaced the smartphone with a 3G tablet capable of making calls. Specifically, for a Seven-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. What was the result? Depending on the type of person you are, you are prepared for the era tablets. If not, you will have to wait for the new smart watches and glasses.

"What is this madman saying?" That is what many of you will think of me at the last sentence. But the truth is that after using a tablet for a week I have realized one thing. Smartphones are destined to disappear. For a while they have been ideal terminals, which have allowed technology to advance and we adapt to the times, but it is a matter of time before all this changes to a new generation. The most curious thing is the gradual nature of this generational change. And the thing is, the first to be able to adapt to it will be those who have made the least progress at this time, for various reasons.

Tablets are the future work device

And this must be qualified. We cannot say that they will replace professional computers. Most likely, you still need a computer with a large screen to design, and a very efficient operating system to be able to work with a word processor, etc. But what we can say is that the one that is going to do the functions of a smart device to document itself on a topic on the Internet, to play and use applications, etc., will be the tablet. Why? Simple, because of its screen and battery. It's more comfortable, it's more useful, and it's simpler. Those of you who have tried a tablet with 3G, or just those of you who have read all the summaries I have made about using the tablet, will know that it has many advantages over the smartphone. It is true that it has some disadvantages, but they will soon be solved as I will tell you in an article that I will publish a little later. Those of you who think that you would never carry a tablet because of its disadvantages, and that you will always opt for a smartphone, will realize why I have stated that they will die in no time.

The best thing is that the first to adapt to the tablet era will be those who have advanced the least. That is, all those who use smartphones today to call and send messages and little else. Those will fit the tablet. Calling is almost as easy with a headset, or with a Bluetooth headset. Playing games or using applications is easier and more useful on a tablet. These will only find advantages in the tablet. In other words, those of you who don't tweet too much on the street, those who don't check-in when you get to work, or those who don't have Runtastic installed for when you're running or using the bike, you can buy a tablet with 3G that allows you to make calls that will be ideal.

There will be those who see disadvantages

Of course, many will find disadvantages, and they are especially those who belong to my generation, the generation that has adapted to the new times, to the social era, the early adopters of new applications and new platforms. All of them will find too many disadvantages in the tablet to adopt it as the main device, and will continue to adhere to the smarthpone. Just yesterday I was explaining it. You can't go with a seven-inch tablet doing Check-In in a museum with your seven-inch tablet. And it's not that it's impossible, I did Check-In on Foursquare yesterday. But although it is not impossible, it is not like with a smartphone. Those of my generation, carry Runtastic on their smartphone and go running, or with the bicycle and monitor the kilometers they travel, the improvement, the race pace, etc. Eureka, you can't carry a seven-inch tablet on your arm. We will have more problems to leave the smartphone behind, because today, it is a connection point with the virtual world, it is our Internet connection, and a tablet would steal that from us. Now the future is very near. And we talked about this in the second part of this analysis.

I think quite the opposite, if something should disappear it is the tablets, at least the android ones, perhaps tablets like the new acer w3 if it can definitely replace the laptops because it is a complete computer system. Although everything may have its place and maybe it will last a long time, who knows, but not everyone is willing to always carry a tablet with them.

I agree with you that not everyone is willing to always carry a tablet with them. However, there is still the second part, where I explain what will happen with smartphones: https://androidayuda.com/2013/05/20/una-semana-sustituyendo-el-smartphone-por-un-tablet-conclusiones-ii/

      I await your opinion 😉
