Android, the fastest growing technology product in history

It seems a lie, and surely Google did not even think that that company called Android that it bought years ago was going to become such an important product. In fact, according to new data, everything seems to indicate that Android is the technological product that has grown the most in history.

It was simply an operating system that was being developed for cameras, that was Android many years ago, and nothing to do with what it is today. Google decided to buy the company, with a certain objective at the time that we do not know, but in the same way that it has bought many other companies over the years. The main difference is that many of these companies do not go to more in most cases. In the vast majority they end up becoming abandoned projects or, in the best of cases, small components of other services of this giant company. However, with Android everything has been different. It has become the largest mobile operating system in the world. It has served to beat the same Apple. Steve Jobs himself was not able to kill the operating system even though he always said it was just a copy of iOS. And today, it is one of the main axes of Google.

It is not uncommon, actually, that it is so important, when it has become, according to data from Asymco, and analyst Horace Dediu, the fastest growing technology product in history.

Symbian, BlackBerry, and Windows Mobile were great

We just have to look at what Symbian, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile have been, all of them giants in the world of mobile operating systems years ago, to take a reference that allows us to estimate how big Android is today. Let's start with Nokia's golden age operating system, Symbian. The operating system managed to reach the figure of 450 million users in 11 years, 44 quarters to achieve a really remarkable figure at that time and that if we compare it with the others, it is a success. For example, it took BlackBerry 43 quarters, almost another 11 years, to reach 225 million users. Hopefully today they kept that amount. Windows Mobile, for its part, which is the only operating system that is still alive today, in the form of Windows Phone, reached 30 million users in 72 quarters, seven and a half years.

iOS outperformed them all

But then came the operating system that changed everything, the one that was integrated into the first smartphone itself, iOS. If the 450 million users in that time frame seemed like a lot, the 700 million users that Apple's operating system achieved was even more impressive. And above all the fact of having achieved them in just 23 quarters. That is, in just under six years. Undoubtedly, Apple had achieved success with the first mobile operating system to launch, in a new paradigm of the phone that had not existed before.

But Android achieved real success

But if this already seemed good results, then you just have to see what Android has achieved, which has been the last operating system to reach the market with real force, and the one that is still alive right now, along with iOS, and Windows Phone. And, it took Android even less, 20 quarters, that is, five years, to reach an even higher figure of 1.000 million users. The figures, without a doubt, are insane. The number of users is four times what BlackBerry achieved in twice the time. Today Android is the fastest growing technology product in history, surpassing not only iOS, but also PlayStation, Xbox, Wii, and even Facebook.

It will not be that android took less time because there are phones of all ranges, low, medium, and high, therefore it targets all sectors, while Apple only targets the high range, with its high prices
