Download torrents on your mobile at full speed with uTorrent

For our Android mobile devices there are dozens of apps to download torrents; but if you are used to doing it from the computer, surely uTorrent It is the one that sounds the most to you of all of them. And yes, indeed, we can also download it on our mobiles and tablets. And the truth is that, although it has its peculiarities, it works in practically the same way as on the platform that made it popular.

Application uTorrent, in terms of software for download torrents, it is not only the best known and downloaded -all over the world- for computer. Also on mobile devices, as we can see in the Google Play Store, it is the most downloaded app. This usually means something, and obviously it is a factor that usually indicates that it is a good application. But we have done a complete analysis of it to see if, indeed, this is the case.

A simple but complete torrent client

Just open uTorrent we find a simple interface divided into four sections. The first and main one, the torrent manager in question; the second and third for videos and music, and the last of all for BitTorrent Remote. The first one will appear empty and, from the same app, we are offered a search engine to start downloading torrents. In reality, this search engine is nothing more than a direct access to Google; something that we can do ourselves using Google Chrome, or any other web browser, but that will save us some time by being integrated into the torrent client itself.

Download your torrents however you want

In uTorrent you can download through a .torrent file, which runs automatically in the application, or you can do it through a magnet link. The seconds are the most convenient, because in this way we will save leaving residual files in the memory of the smartphone. Be that as it may, when we have chosen one of these two ways, the torrent will begin to download in uTorrent as can be seen in the previous screenshot. We have a list with all our downloads.

This list contains a summary of fundamental information: total and downloaded weight, download and upload speed, and download percentage. We can also see, of course, the name of the file.

And if we need more information, we can click on any of the downloads to see additional data. Simply, the details of all the files included in this download will be displayed. On many occasions, several files are downloaded in the same torrent and, as we can see in this screenshot, in addition to the video file there is a text file, and there is also an executable file that in Android is of absolutely no use to us. If we wanted to, here we could discard the files that we are not interested in downloading to our smartphone or tablet.

In the detailed view options we can also check information related to the download such as, for example, the time left for the download to finish, the number of companions and seeds and also the exact date on which the torrent was included in the list of downloads. In short, practically everything that uTorrent also offers us in the desktop version. Only the graphs on the evolution of the torrent are missing, if anything.

Integrated media player

It is best to use specific multimedia applications for playing audio and video files. However, uTorrent offers us a Media player integrated that will help us to enjoy our downloads without leaving the application. The format support is wide and, yes, where it falls short is in the playback options. Especially in the video section, where applications such as VLC, and many other specific ones, can provide us with much more.

If we don't want to use uTorrent's built-in multimedia player, there is no problem, of course. Because the files are stored in the internal memory of the device, or on the micro SD memory card, depending on what we have chosen, and we can perfectly open them with another application. However, what we will not be able to do is open them in another app directly from uTorrent.

Everything you need to download torrents is in uTorrent

In the configuration section we can change things that we do not have on a computer. For example, we can configure the app to work only with WiFi connections, and of course limit the download and upload speed. We can also force the app to start with each restart of our smartphone, change the incoming port and choose the folder in which our downloaded files will be saved automatically. And all this without having to pay, because there is a version 'Pro' of uTorrent that offers us other advantages.

Among the advantages is, above all, eliminating advertising. Which is not annoying at all, but there it is in practically any section of the application in the form of small banners. Even with this, it is a really recommended application for its performance and ease of use. It has everything we could expect from a torrent download client and maintains all, or almost all the advantages of the client available for desktop.
