Comparison Moto G vs. Nexus 5: Google goes for it

With the Official presentation of the Motorola Moto G still hot and while many of you are still waiting for the arrival of your long-awaited Nexus 5, riding a Android Ayuda We have rolled up our sleeves and got to work to bring you a face to face between the last two smartphones launched by Google, even if they are devices intended for different segments of the mobile telephony market. Motorola Moto G y Nexus 5: Two different models that obey a single objective; the one of the Mountain View of go all out on the smartphone planet.

With what we know at the moment about both phones, it seems a truism to say that they both compete in different worlds. While the smartphone manufactured by LG for Google aims to compete with the maximum exponents of the high-end market by beating them through a much more competitive price and not inconsiderable specifications, the small device made by the historic North American brand - now in the hands of the technology giant based in Mountain View - pretends to do the same as his 'first cousin' but in the mid-range. In this way Google seems to want to emulate Samsung By expanding its range of smartphones and its presence reaching different sectors, it may be with the intention of not repeating mistakes made by others such as HTC o Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), that one fine day they decided to focus almost exclusively on a specific sector. Putting that aside, we'd almost better focus ourselves and get down to business.

Nexus 5 and Motorola Moto G face to face

For some strange reason when one thinks of him Nexus 5 and remembers its specifications, a smartphone obviously bigger, thicker and heavier than the one comes to mind. Motorola Moto G. It may be due to an automatic association between higher power with a larger terminal size which, in this specific case that concerns us right now, is not fulfilled in a good number of sections.

It is true that the smartphone manufactured by LG, with its 137,84 by 69,17 millimeters, it is somewhat taller and wider than the terminal of Motorola and its 129,9 by 65,9 millimeters. But it turns out that both in thickness - 11,6 millimeters of the M by 8,59 millimeters Nexus 5 - as in weight - 143 versus 130 grams, respectively - it seems that the newcomer device seems a bit more 'meaty' than the flagship of Google.

Leaving the dimensions and focusing now on the screens of both, the 4,5 inch Motorola LCD panel and its resolution HD 1.280 by 720 pixels and density of 329 pixels per inch, they fall considerably far - which is logical, on the other hand - from the Nexus 5's five-inch True HD IPS display and its resolution 1.920 by 1.080 pixels. We said just a moment ago that this difference between the two is logical because in something the sector to which one and the other model belongs should be noted.

Continuing with the aspects of the two devices that are obvious, both terminals have 1,3 megapixel front camera, while the back of the M stays at five megapixels for the eight offered by the sensor with which the Nexus 5 - although the latter has some other important details such as the optical image stabilizer -. One and the other also coincide in the use of a LED flash and in the possibility of making use of different capture modes such as panoramas, Burst Mode, and so on.

Differences in the interior

Focusing now on the insides of the two smartphones that we are comparing, the main difference is found in the processor. While the Nexus 5 is equipped with a chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core at 2,3 gigahertz, the Motorola Moto G It has also left its processor in the hands of the American manufacturer, which in this case has endowed it with a Snapdragon 400 at 1,2 gigahertz. Differences that are also reflected in the GPU that mount one and the other chipset, since the first has the graphics processor Adreno 330 and the second with the Adreno 305.

With regards to RAM, the device of South Korean origin has two gigs for the gig offered by the US terminal. Also in the double capacity the figures of one and the other move in relation to the internal storage, since while the M offers eight and 16 gig versions, the Nexus 5 It starts off in its 'smallest' version from those 16 gigabytes and goes as far as offering 32 in its most complete variant.

With capabilities of 2.300 and 2.070 milliamps/ hour, it seems that Nexus 5 and Moto G batteries they fall a bit far from what one might expect from two models called to stomp into their respective sectors - perhaps the Motorola acknowledge that lack of autonomy a little less - although it seems that in theory it will allow both of them to offer acceptable use and endurance. As for the networks, just note that While the Nexus 5 does offer LTE support, the Moto G does not offer it among its specifications.

About the operating system with which both phones have little to say, beyond the fact that the Nexus 5 already has Android 4.4 KitKat, Motorola Moto G will have to wait until next January to receive the promised update to the latest version of Google's mobile operating system and until then it will run Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

To close this comparison we will go to one of the strengths of both devices, which is nothing other than the price - the vile metal, what are we going to do -. While the Nexus 5 is priced $349 for its 16 gig version and 399 for the 32, the Motorola Moto G has been presented with a label of U.S. dollar 179 for its 8 gig version and 199 for the 16. As for the price in Europe of the newly introduced device of Motorola, some sources citing the North American company itself, they speak of 169 and 199 euros for each of the versions available and the November 21th as the starting date of its commercialization in the old continent - in Germany, to be exact -.

With all the information of both devices confronted and in your hands What opinion do you deserve one and the other? And what is almost more important still; knowing how you use your smartphone Which of them best suits your needs?Comparison Moto G vs. Nexus 5: Google goes for it

I think that a fairer comparison (and more relevant to the target market of the Moto G) would have been, not against the Nexus 5, but with the Nexus 4, which can still be achieved in some markets at a price similar to that announced for the G and which possesses similar characteristics to this one.

Well, it seems to me a good comparison, in fact it is just what I was looking for to know if it is worth spending twice on the Nexus 5 or better I buy the Moto G.

Some of you are only capable of seeing your point of view, thank goodness that not all of them are so closed.
