Corning prepares a new Gorilla Glass that will make us forget the reflections

Corning-Gorilla-Glass

With summer just around the corner, many of you will know that feeling of helplessness when the sun does not allow us to see the screen of our smartphone. Little by little, the terminals have better coatings that avoid the problem of reflections as much as possible, but the new glass developed by Corning removes them completely.

We have seen this new technology in a video published today by Corning. In it we see the new version of Gorilla Glass -that it could be number 4- and that brings as its main characteristic the almost complete elimination of reflections produced by lights. In this way, when a light falls on the screen of our device, the bounce produced by the glass will be much lower, offering us a much clearer view and avoiding juggling to see what they have written to us on WhatsApp while we are walking on the Street.

Currently, the usability of an outdoor terminal is sometimes measured by a relationship between the brightness and reflectivity of the screen. That is, the higher the maximum brightness and the lower the reflection, the easier the screen will be to see, even in direct sunlight.

Although the reflection effect can be counteracted in some way by increasing the brightness of the device, it is almost impossible that in broad daylight we can see the quality of the screen in all its splendor, something that Corning will take care of with its new Gorilla Glass in the next next generation smartphones. East Anti-reflective coating will also protect the terminal from unexpected drops and scratchesOf course, although as we have said, the improvement corresponds mainly to the anti-reflective. According to numbers from the company itself, this supposed Gorilla Glass 4 that is still in the testing phase reflects only 1% of incident light, 4% less than the solutions currently on the market).

Now we can only hope that Corning begins to develop the first tests with real terminals so that, within a few months, we can enjoy this technology on top brand smartphones.

Finally! Something that is sorely lacking in smartphones. In addition to better image quality, battery life could be saved by not using as much brightness on the terminal due to reflection caused by light. I hope it hits the market soon.
