FreedomPop, what they tell you and what they don't tell you about the new "free" operator

Freedom Pop

Already famous around the world for being a "free" operator, FreedomPop lands in Spain. However, we all know that nobody gives away anything in the world of mobile telephony. How is it possible to get a company that offers a "free" service? And, in reality, there are things that they do tell you, and things that they do not tell you about FreedomPop and that you should know.

What they tell

FreedomPop is an operator that assigns you a free number with a card for your smartphone. It has a free mode that includes 200 MB of data, 100 minutes in calls and WhatsApp completely free, within limits that they establish so as not to exceed maximums that, it must be said, are high. That is, we can use the app without paying, we can also surf the Internet somewhat, and we have a few minutes to call, although this is probably VoIP calls.

The most remarkable feature, that of free WhatsApp, is real, you will have WhatsApp without having to pay, and on your mobile. Of course, with this modality you will not have, a priori, a telephone line with which to make a standard call. If you want more, FreedomPop also has more modalities, although for these you have to pay more, already very much in line with what other low-cost OMV operators offer. Nothing innovative.

What they do not tell to you

Now, there are some things that FreedomPop does not tell you, some things that make not all Spaniards ask for their new account right away. And, if not for these things, what does it matter to have one more line if it is completely free and offers me something that may be useful, right? Of course, here is the question. "Free", yes, in quotes. Free because you don't have to pay anything per month if we make the correct selections. But is FreedomPop not making money? He does win, and in several ways. One of them is that we have to pay the registration, which in the end between the card and the registration price is about 12 euros. A figure that already makes many, without needing a second line, wonder what they want it for. Apart from this, during the registration process we can fall into several traps. One of them is to accept an offer of a free month for 2 GB of data. If we accept it, the first month we will not pay, then yes. In addition to this, we also have options for when we run out of data. Before they run out, when we have few left, a data voucher will be automatically hired. More money spent. We will have to cancel this option. They even have a service to accumulate our unspent data for future months. Of course, this service has a cost. Oh, and if you don't realize it, and you confirm everything when you create your account, you will also be hiring this service.

In short, a company that is dedicated to offering a free service that is not entirely free, because it has a high cost, nor is it just funny that they play that we are wrong to charge us more money. Of course, in part that is your business. If nobody paid anything, and they paid for all the services they offer, they would be ruined. But at the same time, no user likes having to walk with a thousand eyes with everything he hires and signs so as not to have to pay more.

Choosing FreedomPop or not is a matter for each user, but of course, we cannot say that it is "free", nor can we say that it is the most reliable operator, especially for users who least dominate the world of new technologies. Even those who do, must be careful, because there are many options that FreedomPop gives us so that we end up paying for something. And in the end, it ends up being cheaper for us to have a rate with a normal operator, without so many limitations.

I believe that it is a company that adjusts its services to the maximum to guarantee a low cost. I believe that the prices are quite good compared to other companies. I bet on this company. I see the future.

The FREE rate is Free, which by default is activated other options that are paid separately every month ??, of course, but from minute 0 it can be deactivated from your Management panel, a clear panel and not complicated like the rest of the companies .

The Free rate is as indicated, Free and without small print, you have to pay for the registration and shipping of the sim, I think the total cost is € 12 or € 14, the problem with these things is that we want to put a nose on it. And that registration and shipping is also free and since we are getting a last generation smartphone at cost 0.
