Google Mobile Meter, they will pay you to know how you use your Android

Google Mobile Meter

Information is one of the most profitable businesses in the world, and it is not surprising that this is why Google has grown so much in recent years. The information that Google is able to obtain thanks to our use of Android would be so profitable that it could even pay us if we allow them to monitor us. The new service would be called Google Mobile Meter.

In reality, this only confirms that Android, despite being a free operating system and that it is open source, allows Google to obtain profitability from the information it obtains about us. And it is that, without going any further, with the data you have about us you can offer us a much more effective advertising. The more data you have about each of us, the better the advertising. That would be the goal of Google Mobile Meter. We would allow Google to know where we surf the Internet, how long, which applications we install, how long we use them and in what way. For example, it is not the same to install video games every day and use them practically throughout the day, as someone who installs many games but then does not play because they do not have time. Obviously, the former is much more likely to pay for video games than the latter. But they are not the only data, because with the information about what time we set the alarm, Google can even know when we woke up. If users tend to despise the advertising they see when they wake up, it is best to send it to them an hour later, for example. In such small ranges of time, knowing what time the alarm sounds is decisive, since we cannot generalize one time to everyone.

In exchange for giving this data to Google, the Mountain View company would reward us. How? It is not clear if it will be through money, discounts, or applications. In fact, the service is not official yet, so we will still have to wait, both to know how the rewards would work, and to know if it will be available worldwide or only in some regions.

This system is nothing new. Some Spanish insurance companies offer something similar with the car. They install a computer in the vehicle in exchange for obtaining statistical data. These data serve them to be able to carry out negotiations with other companies, or simply to be able to make more precise estimates. In return, vehicle insurance is reduced every year. Information is a profitable business, and Google would try to continue to advance in this field.
