About a year ago, Google removed one of the most popular features of Google Photos, the backup indicator. Before with a simple glance you could see that photos had not yet been uploaded to the cloud to be backed up, but they deleted it, so you could not easily know which photos had already been saved for later recovery or not. But it seems that Google has realized its mistake and this functionality is coming back, but somewhat changed.
At the moment only a few users have seen it on their phones, but it will surely spread quickly in a short time. Luckily, Google has already announced the news where this functionality would be added, so it is already safe, although it will not be exactly as we had it a year ago.
Few news, but well received
There are only two novelties in this new update, the first novelty is the one that concerns us now, and that is that we will be able to see again which photos and videos are still missing to make a backup of the ones we have in Google Photos, but before we had a cloud icon to indicate it, so to find it we had to scroll through our entire gallery in search of the icon that indicated it, now things have improved and streamlined a lot, and We directly have a section where we can fully upload the missing photos to the cloud and make their respective backup.
Very few users at the moment have been able to see this functionality already established in their phones, but we are sure that it will not take long to see it on all mobiles globally. In the photo we can see a screenshot shared by a person who already has this functionality on their mobile phone, so the next one, it could be you, you never know.
The other novelty is that the app has been updated to have support for folding phones. Although it is not something that many users have to worry about at the moment, it is good to already have these news from the first days when if it implements a new technology such as this case, with its first exponents the Samsung Galaxy Fold and the Huawei Mate X, as we will surely see a popularization of folding phones this year and possibly next year as well.
