How to have root access on Xperia with Ice Cream Sandwich

Now that the devices of the Sony Xperia saga begin to be updated with the official version of Android 4.0.x, we have the problem that we will lose root access to the mobile and, with it, the super user privileges. To regain control of your terminal, you can follow the steps in this guide.

The folks at Xperia blog have detailed step by step, how to get rooted on the updated Xperia. The guide was taken from the XDA Developers blog for developers and is relatively easy to follow.

The process itself involves the discharge de a file containing everything you need and that it should work with all Xperia models that have been upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich in the last few days. An extra advantage is that this system allows you to root both mobiles that have the bootloader locked and those that have it released.

The first thing to do is have all the necessary drivers installed on the computer. Then you have to download the tool to root the XDA Developers post and extract the zip file to a folder on your computer. Remember that you have to activate the debugging mode. To do this you have to go to Settings, Development options and check the USB debugging box. You also have to allow installation from Unknown Sources (in settings / security)

Once this is done, connect the mobile to the computer. After you have to run the unzipped file by double clicking on the one called runme.bat. This will install two extra programs, such as the Busybox (1.18.4) and the SuperUser tool. The mobile will ask you several times to restart it.

At the end of the whole process, the message All done will appear and you now have root access to your Xperia with Ice Cream Sandwich. Simple, right?
