Meizu CEO confirms MX4G and MX4G Mini

In recent statements, the former CEO of Meizu and current CEO of the company, J. Wong, has confirmed that the company is working on two new high-end terminals for this 2014. On the one hand we find the Meizu MX4G, which will replace the current MX3. The second novelty would be a Meizu MX4G Mini. From the company, no new details have yet been given about these new terminals.

The official presentation for the Meizu MX4G and MX4G Mini is scheduled for next February, within the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. However, and although Mr. Wong did not want to reveal more details about the company's new flagship, there are some rumors that point to leaked technical specifications of the terminal.

In this way, the MX4G - and we do not know if its mini version - will have a processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 Quad-core at 2,5 GHz, and it would come in configurations of 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM. The screen of the Meizu MX4G would be 5,5 inches, while its resolution would remain at 2.560 x 1.560 pixels. As its name indicates, it is expected that in terms of connectivity it will have a connection to 4G / LTE networks.

Sizes for all tastes

Unlike the Meizu MX4G, its Mini version, officially announced by the company's executive, no details have been disclosed. That said, it is not known if this version will incorporate the same technical sheet as its older brother but with a smaller screen, or if it will be a less powerful version of the new device.

Meizu Logo

If considered the first option, Meizu would thus join a trend that other brands in the sector are already making, and that we love. And it is that although With the appearance of phablets, manufacturers seemed to have forgotten the smaller screens for their top of the rangeIn recent months we have seen bets like Sony's with its Z1 Compact in which the inches are not at odds with Premium specifications.

Meizu and Ubuntu more together than ever

Finally, it should be noted that Meizu Russia a few days ago confirmed the company's work with the Ubuntu operating system. Speculations point to a hypothetical MX4 which would be launched at the end of the year with this operating system. However, the company continues to develop its Flyme OS version under Android architecture.

We will have to keep an eye on Barcelona to discover what the short and medium term strategy of the Chinese manufacturer will be with its range of MX terminals.
