But it seems that the company, fortunately for the users, changed its mind. And the Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A are already getting their piece of cake with Android 9 Pie.
Both phones were launched last year with Android 8.1 Oreo and MIUI 9.1 in its entrails. So users, even being phones from Xiaomi's most economical range, were asking for at least one big update.
Influenced by that, the decision that these phones will upgrade was made by the Chinese company for a long time. They started recruiting people to test the closed beta, which lasted a little over a month. Later it came to him MIUI 10 with all its news, but on Android 8 Oreo, without the operating system update. Now only the final step was missing. And it has already arrived.
Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A with Android 9 Pie
And now we will finally receive Android 9 Pie on our devices. It comes with the new MIUI 10 update, which will now finally come with Android 9 Pie. The name of this update is V10.4.1.0.PCBMIXM and weighs approximately 1,3GB.
The update apart from Android 9 Pie with all the news that it includes (although these phones already had MIUI 10, which already incorporate some of the new features of Android Pie), also updates the security patch to the security patch of July 2019 Something that is always appreciated.
But not only the operating system that we see has been updated. And is that also the kernel It has been updated in this new version. This should help certain developers work on ROMs and other options for these phones.
The update is being received globally via OTA. So if you want to check that you are receiving the update you can wait for the corresponding notification or go to Settings> About phone> System update and will check for updates.
You can also download the ROM from the Xiaomi page and install it manually by putting the file inside the phone and going to Settings> About phone> System update click on the three dots in the upper right corner and select Choose upgrade package.
